Construction Impacts

Students Enjoying Campus

As Missouri S&T continues to invest in campus facilities, several construction and renovation projects will remain active throughout the fall semester. While these projects support important improvements to our academic, research, and student life spaces, some may temporarily affect building access, pedestrian routes, utilities, parking, and other daily activities. Review the updates below for information about anticipated impacts, timelines, and areas where extra caution or alternative routes may be needed.

Fall 2026

Applied Research Center/Computer Science Building/Straumanis-James Hall

Installing a new sanitary sewer connection to serve the Applied Research Center.

Campus Masterplan - Applied Research Center

  • Construction fencing and pedestrian detours will affect the sidewalks north of the Computer Science Building and near the west entrance of Straumanis-James Hall and the lower-level east entrance of the Computer Science Building.
  • The west entrance of Straumanis-James Hall will remain open, with its pathway temporarily rerouted through the ARC landscaping area.
  • The work is expected to last approximately two weeks to one month. The start date is still being finalized and will be shared when available.

Bioplex

Ongoing building construction.

  • Perimeter fencing remains in place.
  • Occasional truck activity is expected on State Street for concrete pours and material deliveries.

Fulton Hall

Completing exterior masonry repairs and cleaning.

  • Exterior masonry work is nearing completion.
  • Construction fencing has been removed from the west and north sides of the building.  Remaining fencing (except for near the southeast corner) should be removed by early October.
  • Fencing will remain along the southeast corner of the building until all work is complete.

Havener Center

Connecting the new system to the Geothermal Water Softener Project.

  • Domestic water service to Havener Center will be temporarily interrupted during Fall Break beginning October 9 and lasting up to two days.
  • The interruption will affect the entire building, including restrooms and kitchen operations.

Havener Center Game Lounge and Esports Arena

Transforming the former bookstore area into a new game lounge and esports arena.

Campus Masterplan - Game Lounge & Esports Arena

  • The project team is targeting substantial completion by October 16, in time for Homecoming Weekend.
  • Students may experience construction noise and increased contractor activity near the project area.
  • Flooring, ceilings, walls, audiovisual equipment, technology, and furniture will be installed in stages.
  • The project team is working to complete as much of the space as possible before Oct. 15
  • The active construction area will remain restricted until work is complete.

Missouri Protoplex

Completing exterior and interior work as new occupants move into the facility.

Missouri Protoplex

  • Striping is planned for the north parking lot.
  • Brief parking or access changes may be required while striping is completed.
  • Additional schedule information will be shared once it is available.

Schrenk Hall East

Renovating the building and improving emergency access, sidewalks, and landscaping along its east side.

Campus Masterplan - Schrenk Hall

  • A pedestrian detour will be in place through December 15 while a new fire lane and related site improvements are constructed.
  • Temporary fencing will restrict access to the construction area.
  • Students who normally walk through this area should follow posted signs and use the designated alternate route.
  • Expect construction noise and increased activity near the east side of the building.
  • Renovation work inside Schrenk Hall East will continue through January 2027.

Toomey Hall

Completing roof replacement work and repairing areas affected by water intrusion.

  • Roofing work continues in three remaining areas.
  • Students may experience construction noise and localized access adjustments around the building.
  • Fencing on the east, north, and west sides is being removed in stages and is expected to decrease as work progresses.
  • Remaining work is expected to continue until the end of October.

Plan Ahead

Students are encouraged to:

  • Allow extra time when walking near construction areas.
  • Follow posted signs, fencing, and pedestrian detours.
  • Use caution around construction vehicles and active work areas.
  • Watch for additional updates as schedules are finalized.

Construction schedules may change due to weather, material availability, or site conditions. Updated construction fencing locations for major projects are available on the Campus Map.
